Barbara Jean Scott, 76, Port Charlotte, died Sept. 16, 2003. She was born March 13, 1927, in Corsicana, Texas, and came to Port Charlotte 30 years ago from Alexandria, Va. She retired from the House of Representatives in Washington, D.C. She later was a crossing guard for the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Derrill; a daughter, Linda Estrada of Port Charlotte; sons Bill and Rocky, both of Fairfax Station, Va.; sisters Alice McKissack of Wylie, Texas, and Leila Newmark of Port Charlotte; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. James Episcopal Church in Port Charlotte. National Cremation Society, Port Charlotte chapter, is in charge. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Association of Retarded Citizens, P.O. Box 495021, Port Charlotte, FL 33948.
