Barbara Jean Jackson Brown SPRINGFIELD GARDENS, NY-- Mrs. Barbara Jean Jackson Brown, of 145-95 223rd Street, Springfield Gardens, NY, passed Friday, February 25, 2011. She was the widow of Mr. Walter Brown, Sr. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Ezell Jackson and Mrs. Beaufort Miller Jackson. She was a native of Spartanburg County. She was a graduate of Carver High School, class of 1956, graduate of St. Augustine Collge with a B.S. Degree in Sociology. She retired from the Leake and Watts Children Home in New York City. She was a member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and attended the Allen A.M.E. Church in New York. Survivors include two daughters, Ms. Denise Brown Haggins of New York and Ms. Tamara Xenobia Brown of Alexandra, VA; two sons, Mr. Walter Brown, Jr. of New Jersey and Mr. Gregory Ezell Brown of Los Angeles, CA; one sister, Mrs. Zenobia Jackson Samuel of Springfield, Gardens NY; one grandchild. Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 5, 2011, at 2:00 PM at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. Dr. B. D. Snoddy will officiate. Burial will be in the Heritage Memorial Gardens.
