Barbara J. Johnson of Weymouth, passed away Oct. 16, 2012, at her home. She was 88 years old. Born and raised in Medford, she had lived in Weymouth since 1962. Barbara was an active member of the Weymouth Historical Society, longtime Town Meeting member and along with her late husband William, was a recipient of the Weymouth Citizen of the Year award. Barbara was a retired technical illustrator. Beloved wife of the late William V. Johnson, she was the mother of David R. Van Orden married to Kathleen Desmond of Weymouth, Pamela Van Orden and her late husband Jay Bruce of California, Nancy Van Orden of Oklahoma and the late Maureen Van Orden Riberdy; sister of the late Marjorie Playstead and Dorothy Heath; grandmother of Meghan Van Orden of Quincy, Michael Van Orden of California and the late Rebecca VanOrden. Visiting hours were held Oct. 21, 3-7 p.m. in the McDonald Funeral Home, at 40 Sea St. (off Rte. 3A-Bicknell Square), North Weymouth. Funeral service was celebrated Oct. 22, at 9 a.m. in McDonald Funeral Home. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
