BARBARA "ELOISE" HENDRY WALKER, 86 VINTON, VA - Eloise Walker (GG), 86, (formerly of Lakeland), passed away of heart failure on July 8, 2008. It's a comfort to know she's with the Lord and is the lively soul she was before her illness. Eloise loved the Lord, her family, friends, music, flowers, and the joy of life. She also loved red convertibles; however, she would have never ridden in one because it would have messed up her hair. She was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class. Eloise served the Lord through her love of music. She was a music director of several chancel and youth choirs both in Florida and Virginia. When she wasn't directing a church choir, she was a choir member. Eloise was Brandon High School's first drum majorette. She was the widow of Burrell H. Walker. She was preceded in death by her son, J. Burrell Walker; parents James R. and Sadie Chapman Hendry; sister, Laura Lea DeBusk; brother, J. Otis Hendry; nephews, Maxwell C. Hendry and O.J. Hendry.Eloise is survived by her daughter and son in law Laura and Dale Dearing; grandchildren, John B. Walker, J. Chad Helms and fiance' Jen Barger, Jayme P.H. Helms, Crystal Brake and husband Johnnie; and her great grandchildren, Jordan T. and Carson E. Brake. Eloise is also survived by many special nieces and nephews and life long friends. The family would like to especially thank those who helped with her care; Teresa Sheffield, Rhonda Gordon, June Brunk, Charlotte Snapp, Gloria Welch, Laura Gross, and the wonderful people at Carrillon Hospice services. Visitation will be at Gentry-Morrison, Northside Chapel on Sunday July 13, 2008 from 2-4 and from 6-8. A graveside service will be held on Monday July 14, 2008 at 11:00 am at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Riverview. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that contributions to the Mineral Springs Baptist Church Building Fund (1030 Bible Lane, Vinton, VA 24179) be made in her honorGentry-Morrison Funeral Homes, Northside Chapel.
