MARTINEZ, GA -- Ms. Barbara Gail Smith, age 49, of Martinez, entered into rest on Sunday morning, April 2, 2006, at University Hospital. A native and lifelong resident of the Augusta area; Gail had worked as a Dispatcher with the Richmond County Police Depts. in the late 1970's. She also had worked for Westinghouse at SRS and most recently at Johnson Controls at Fort Gordon.She was a member of Day Springs Baptist Church and had attended Warren Baptist Church.She is preceded in death by, her father, Mr. William "Bill" Smith, who passed away in 1979.She is survived by: her mother, Carolyn Smith Anderson, Martinez, Ga.; her son, Jonathan W. Bailey, (Kim), Martinez; her brother, T. Gary Smith, (Joy), Augusta, Ga., 1 grand daughter, Cailin Marie Bailey, A niece, Corinna Lock; and a nephew, T. Garrett Smith.Funeral services will be at 3:00 Tuesday pm, on Tuesday, April 4, 2006 from the Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 4255, Columbia Road with David Fleming, officiating.Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.Pallbearers will be: Larry, Randy and Tony Smith, Theodis and Tim Smith and Thomas Bennett.The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm, until the hour of service, at the funeral home.If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to; her mother, Carolyn Anderson or to the American Cancer Society, 2623 Washington Road, Augusta, GA 30904.
