Barbara had sincere interest in the world of nature and was particularly supportive of and caring toward "all creatures great and small".Particularly in the years of her retirement Barbara found a special pleasure writing poetry and participating in a poetry group at Snow Library in Orleans, where she was a volunteer with The Friends of Snow Library. The following is one of her poems: REMEMBERANCE - "My age is not what my face would suggest, but I sometimes think it is. I've written a notice of my passing on for part of my obituary: No public services, please loved ones, I have just one thing to ask, that you take a few minutes to think of how I affected your life. I hope the umbrella consensus will be-that I was kind. The kind of parent I should have been though making mistakes as most mothers do; Kindnesses outweighing hurts inflicted; As a friend, helpful when needed, a patient listener at all times; Teaching in a loving manner, kindness shown, not preached, to church school children, Girl Scouts, dyslectic patients with whom I worked. When the time comes for my Earth's life to end, my Creator, I pray, will make my leaving easy, and greet me as an old friend."Barbara was born June 3, 1936, in Winthrop, MA.
