FLANAGAN, Barbara Elizabeth1932 - 2014 We are deeply saddened to announce that Miss Barbara E. Flanagan of Forest Lawn passed away on June 21, 2014, at the age of 81. She leaves behind a very large and widespread network of relatives and friends with whom she generously shared her abundant love, kindness, thoughtfulness, and hospitality. She was predeceased by her life partner and soulmate, Edwin Goodhope, in 1989, her deeply revered father, Rev. Heston Flanagan in 1958, her mother, Mrs. Emma Flanagan (nee Caldwell), her sister, Edith (Bill) Holmes, her big brother Harold (June) Flanagan and recently her little brother Paul Flanagan. She is survived by her sister in law, Mrs. Geraldine Flanagan, her "in-laws", Bill & Laura Sullivan and Ray & Vivian Goodhope, and a large number of nieces and nephews. Auntie Barb was born on July 11, 1932 in Hants Co. Nova Scotia. The family lived in several places in the Maritimes before moving to Edmonton when she was 12, and then to the West Coast a few years later. She came to Calgary in 1949 and attended the Baptist Leadership Training School, where she made many life long friends. She joined the Royal Bank in 1954, and spent her 26 year career at the Center Street Branch on 8th Avenue S, where she made many more life long friends. She was also blessed with very wonderful neighbours. In her later years her main hobby, after hockey, was keeping in touch with everyone, which included keeping everyone up to speed on everyone else. She was the central person who kept a lot of people together, and she will be missed very much. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home on July 5th, 2014, at 2:00 p.m..
