Barbara E. Smith, a lifelong Brewster resident, died at home Friday, August 27, 2004. She was 79. She was born February 15, 1925 in Danbury, CT, daughter of the late James and Catherine (Knox) Sheridan. She graduated from Brewster High School and married Donald J. Smith at St. Lawrence O'Toole Church on October 19, 1946. Mrs. Smith worked as a Bookkeeper for Guide Post in Carmel for 18 1/2 years and was a member of St. Lawrence O'Toole Church. Besides her husband Donald she is survived by three children, Donald of Cos Cob, CT, Donna McGuinn of Greenwich, CT, and Edward of Brewster, a brother Philip Sheridan of Poughkeepsie, NY, two sisters Ann Belotti of Brewster and Grace Votto of Orlando, FL and seven grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, 10 AM at St. Lawrence O'Toole Church. Interment will follow at St. Lawrence O'Toole Cemetery. Calling hours will be held today from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Beecher Funeral Home. Contributions in her memory may be made to Hospice Care of Westchester and Putnam, 100 South Bedford Rd., Mt.
