Brown-Shaffer, Barbara ALBANY Barbara Brown-Shaffer, 63, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 13, 2008 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn. Barbara was born in Albany, the daughter of William and Alice (Vincent) Brown and was a lifelong area resident. As a younger woman, Barbara had ran Brown's Waterbeds on Central Ave. in Albany and more recently worked for New York State Department of Tax and Finance. She was an avid reader, who also liked flea markets, puzzle books and making jewelry. Barbara had a love of animals and her dog Fred was like a child of hers. She is survived by her husband David Shaffer; her stepson, Jason Shaffer; her brothers, Paul W. (Joan) Brown and Alan R. (Kelly) Brown; nieces and nephews, Franklin A. Brown, Francis Zaborowski, Martina J. Brown, Mary Ellen Brown and Christopher A. Brown. She was prede-ceased by her nephew, Paul W. Brown Jr. She is also survived by a large, loving, extended family. Funeral service will be held Wednesday 7:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
