Jefferson - Mrs. Barbara Bowers Smith, age 54, of Red Bird Dr., Jefferson, passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2004, her birthday. Mrs. Smith was a Business Manager at the University of Georgia. She was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church, where she was the organist.A funeral service was held Saturday at the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, GA, with the Revs. Alan Saunders, Terry Smith, Rick Hayes, and Ben Glosson officiating. Another funeral service will be held at 11:00am Monday at the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home, Pickens, SC, with the Revs. Alan Saunders and Rick Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens, SC. Visitation will be held Monday from 10-11am at Dillard Funeral Home.Survivors include her husband, Freddie Smith of Jefferson; daughter, Wendy Smith of Athens; mother, Paige H. Bowers of Pickens, SC; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Danny Pilgrim of Liberty, S.C.; nephews, great niece, and beloved friends, Robin Fonclara, and Karen Green Wilson.
