Barbara-Anne Lee, conjointe de Doug Lee, est décédée.
LEE, Barbara Anne (Pettitt)25 Jan 1940 - 10 May 2010 Barbara, born in Hamilton, Ontario, passed away after a brief illness in North Vancouver, BC short of her 42nd wedding anniversary. She has left her loving husband, Doug; their daughter, Catherine (Jamie Bassett); grandsons Nicholas and Christopher; her brothers Rob (Gail) and Don (Pennie) plus many nieces and nephews to a second generation. Barbara was predeceased by her parents and a daughter, Sheryl. Miss Pettitt taught Kindergarten at Lloyd George and Bellcairn Public Schools (PS) in Hamilton; in Marville, France; and Lahr, West Germany (RCAF dependants). Mrs. Lee opened an Early Kindergarten at Alex Taylor PS in Edmonton. She was a substitute/supply teacher for primary grades in Winnipeg and Ottawa; and a full time librarian at Fielding Drive PS; followed by Kindergarten and English Development positions at Dunlop PS; retiring in 1997. Family and friends were always kept close, she was devoted to maintaining connections and/or creating things for those dear to her. Teachers touring England, one knowing how to knit, the other how to pearl, bought needles, wool and instructional patterns to pass quiet time in a B & B knitting. Later Doug would recreate patterns (i.e. bunnies, dogs) from her button sets for sweaters. There are many children and grandchildren (grand-nieces and nephews) across Canada that received a rainbow coloured blanket at birth, some of whom are now wrapping their children in the same blankets that they enjoyed in their youth. Counted cross-stitch was another challenge for her hands that she thoroughly enjoyed. She refused to let herself get hooked on either for too long. She accomplished chores one bit at a time using a row of knitting, or a thread of cross stitching as a reward for every task completed. Stamping and card making were new found joys that she shared with close friends. Barbara loved the beauty of flowers in their natural state in gardens or in the woods. If you wish please consider the Canadian Cancer Society 1-888-939-3333, or any charity of your choice. Two wakes will be held, at Catherine's on 12 June, and at Doug's on 16 August.
