Barbara A. (Curtis) Casey, 87, of Abington, passed away on March 28, surrounded by her family at the Sachem Center for Health and Rehab. She was the beloved wife of the late John F. Casey, former Fire Chief of Abington. She was born in Whitman and grew up in Abington, daughter of the late Alfred and Louise (Freeman) Curtis. Barbara has been a lifelong resident of Abington and a graduate of Abington High School. She was a cook for Abington schools and may local nursing homes. She enjoyed spending time with family. She is survived by, her son Jerome Casey and his wife Patrice Putman of ME, her daughters, Judith Casey of Rockland and Liz Casey and her companion Dan Fleming of Bridgewater, her daughters-in-laws, Lee Casey of Abington and Christine Casey of Acton, her sister Sandra Gilley of TN, also; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren .She was also the mother of the late James, John and Kathleen Casey and sister of the late Alfred Curtis Jr. and Marilyn Metcalf. Her visitation was held on Monday, March 31 from 3 - 6 p.m. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte 58 at the rotary circle), Whitman. Graveside services was held on Tuesday, April 1, at 10 a.m. in the Mt Vernon Cemetery, Abington.
