Mrs. Bridget Mary 'Dolly' Smith, a resident of Blauvelt since 1958, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2007 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 94. She was born in New York City on February 11, 1913 to James and Mary Ahearn Guerin. Dolly was a traffic clerk for Becton Dickinson Co.in Orangeburg before retiring in 1973. She also worked as a professional seamstress in New York City and continued to sew garments throughout her life for her family. Dolly, a devout Catholic, was a parishioner of St. Catharine's Church in Blauvelt. Dolly was pre deceased by her husband, Michael J., who died in 1959. She is survived by her children, Maureen Butrico and her husband Robert, Michael Smith, Kevin Smith and his wife Mary Ellen, and Eleanor Souder and her husband Timothy; her nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Annabelle O'Donnell, Winnie White and Eleanor Scully. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, 10 am, at St. Catharine's Church in Blauvelt with burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Healing Hearts Camp, 1 Ford Place, Suite 2A, Detroit, MI 48202.
