BETTY LOUISE GRAYSeptember 14, 2011Betty Louise Gray, 88, of Cape Coral, FL, died September 14, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving family following her courageous battle with cancer. Betty was born in Galesburg, IL on January 6, 1923. She was the daughter of Herman and Marie Robison Cool. She grew up in Peoria, IL and attended schools there.She and John R. Gray, Sr. were married on September 10, 1939 and celebrated 63 years of marriage before John's death on March 27, 2002. Together they owned and operated a trucking business, Speedy Delivery Service, Inc. for over 50 years.Betty enjoyed life to the fullest whether with family, friends, playing cards or on the golf course. She was an active member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral and also Palmetto Pine Country Club.She is survived by her children, Judy (Gene) Morse of Morton, IL and John R. (Corkey) (Jane) Gray of Peoria, IL seven grandchildren, Kim (Brad) Gregurich, Stacey (Erik) Anderson, Michelle (Bruce) Bennett, Allison (Eric) Dicks, Stephanie (Joel) Stalter, Todd (Jenelle) Gray, Piper (Chris) Garwacki, fourteen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and her sister, Marilyn Poindexter of Sacramento, CA.She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and four sisters.Betty was a remarkable person who touched many lives. We will be forever grateful for all of the fun she brought to our lives and all who knew her.Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, September 18, at Faith Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral. the family will be present to receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 to 2:00pm prior to the memorial service.Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Faith Presbyterian Church, 4544 Coronado Parkway, Cape Coral, FL 33904 or Hope Hospice, 9470 Health Park Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908.Following cremation, she will be interred at the American Mausoleum, Peoria, IL.
