SMITH, Betty L. Age 83, of Horseheads, NY, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2008, at home. She was born on May 6, 1924 in Elmira, NY, to the late Leslie and Ellen (Preston) Woodard. Betty was predeceased by her husband, John Smith in 1988; and daughter, Sharon Blair in 2003. Survivors include her daughters, Patricia Smith of Marion, NY, Bettie Grover of Horseheads, and Michiele (James) Evans of Van Etten, NY; sisters, Ella Mae (Robert) Palmer of Elmira, Alice Boyton of Elmira Heights, Pearl Cortright of Elmira, and Rose (John) Spencer of Erin, NY; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; close friend, Barbara Richards of Erin, NY. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, January 7th, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place there at 2 p.m. with Rev. Ellie Haber officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Betty's name can be made to Southern Tier Hospice.
