AUGUSTA, Ga.- Mrs. Bertha Mae Johnson, 72, of Wheeler Road, entered into rest Sunday, July 11, 2004 at the residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 15, 2004 at 11 a.m., at Rehoboth Baptist Church, Columbia County, Ga., with the Rev. Frank Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She was a native of Columbia County, Ga., a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board for over 28 years. Survivors includes two daughters, Shirley (John) Evans and Elizabeth (Robert) Barksdale; two sons, Wayne (Jerry) Johnson and James (Robin) Johnson, all of Augusta; four brothers, Leroy (Claudia) Davis, Walter (Sara) Harris, Peter Cobb, Appling, Ga., and Eugene Cobb, Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Maggie Jennings, Augusta, and Effie McGruder, Los Angeles, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a host of family and friends. Remains will lie in state at the church 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
