CARTER, BERTHA GARCIAGainesville - Bertha Garcia Carter, born January 12, 1930 in Bolivia and long term Gainesville resident passed away on September 13, 2013. "Bolivian by birth, American by choice" Bertha is survived by her three daughters Olivia Carter Pokras, Vivian L. Victor, and Emily Carter Mitchell. Along with grandchildren Kara Pokras, Nate Victor, and Julia Victor and great grandchildren Calvin and Cameron Thomas. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Thomas Center, 302 N.E. 6th Avenue, Gainesville, Florida 32601. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for Bertha's Costa Rican legacy to support environmental education for local children.
