JONES, Mrs. Bernice Motley, a resident of 933 Hugh Street, stepped into eternity on Friday, October 26, 2001. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. from St. James Baptist Church #2 with Bishop C. Stewart, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery, Mt. Meigs, with Phillips-Riley Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Jones will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services. It is said that through the door of death, there is everlasting darkness, but with God the door of death is the way to everlasting light. A few days ago, our beloved Bernice (Bern) Motley Jones, stepped beyond the darkness into the maverlous light. The late Sister Bernice (Bern) Motley Jones was born on July 25, 1937 to the late Vergie Taylor. Bernice learned early about the need to work toward eternal life She began her services from the Master at Shiloh Baptist Church, Autaugaville, AL. Cherishing fond memories of her, Husband, Charles Jones, children, three daughters, Brenda (Calvin) Brown, Montgomery, AL, Debbie Motley (Athey McNabb), Montgomery, AL, Vickie (John) Jones, Montgomery, AL; one sister, Annie (Leon) Shelby; three brothers, Willie Taylor, Jesse (Carolyn) Taylor, Samuel (Marie) Motley; a devoted nephew, Samuel (Doran) Motley; five grandchildren, Tamika, Chequlia, Torry, Terrell and Edmand, Jr.; three great-grandchildren; 17 step-grandchildren; a devoted friend, Edna White and a host of nieces, nephews and cherished friends. Mrs. Jones will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services.
