BARBARA YVONNE (BINETTE) MILLER - SOUTH BURLINGTON - Barbara Yvonne (Binette) Miller died peacefully in the Vermont Respite House, in the early morning hours of May 14, 2014, following her decline from Alzheimer's and COPD. Barbara was born on June 23, 1933, in Burlington. She was raised in Lakeside and attended Burlington High School. She attended the Holy Ghost nursing program before marrying Robert E. Miller on Feb. 4, 1956, at St. Anthony's in Burlington. They moved from Lakeside to Pennsylvania, returning to Vermont to live in Winooski, Essex, Williston, and finally South Burlington. Barbara volunteered with the Don Guanella Catholic Social Services and the Special Olympics. She worked for a number of years at IBM and enjoyed lunches with "the girls." While able, she was a member of the St. Anthony and then St. Francis parishes. Barbara is survived by her husband, Bob; and all of their children and families, Robin Miller, Christy Rappaport (Jon), Heidi Miller, Becky Dunigan (James), Tammy Poquette (Bill), Thomas Miller (Ellen), and Scott Miller (Mari). Barbara and Bob's grandchildren include Nicole and Alex Beaudoin, Brandon (Meredith) and RJ (Evgeniya) Ackel, Tyler and David Dunigan, Joshua and Nicholas Kirkpatrick, Melissa and Cameron Miller, Hannah Miller; and great-grandson, Winter Beaudoin. In addition, she leaves a large extended family including nieces, nephews, and many cousins. Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Yvonne (Danis) Binette; and her sister, Susan "Shirley" Rhodes. Family is what mattered most to Barbara. Her license plate MALYB (Mom Always Loved You Best) says it all. She enjoyed the holidays with her grandchildren in attendance and especially loved Christmas, setting up her tree at Thanksgiving and taking it down at Valentine's Day with her beautiful Creche. She was proud of her French-Canadian heritage and made meat pies every Christmas. The extended family reunions held at the "farm" in Essex were legendary with games and music, including traditional spoon playing. The family would like to thank Dr. Kilkunas, as well as the staffs at Cathedral Square and Vermont Respite House for their support. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday morning, May 17, 2014, 10 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church in Winooski.
