Barbara B. Jean, 94, passed away, Monday, December 26, 2011, at her Ormond Beach residence. Mrs. Jean was born September 5, 1917 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was raised in Arizona and New Mexico. It was in New Mexico that she married Arch K. Jean of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, who preceeded her in death after 62 years of marriage. Mrs. Jean was a long time resident of Ormond Beach. She and her husband retired to this area after 34 years of service with the Federal Government, State Department and Foreign Service. She was a homemaker and served as a Red Cross Volunteer of Volusia County for over 25 years. Survivors include her only daughter, Sally Jean Leuer and her husband, Major General Kenneth C. Leuer, U.S. Army Retired of Midland, Georgia; three grandchildren, Sheryl Jean Billey of Spokane, Washington, Linda Lee Henry and her husband, Col. Scott A. Henry of Fairfax, Virginia and Joseph C. Leuer and his wife, Olga M. Leuer of Midland, Georgia and seven great grandchildren, Emily Ann Billey of Alexandria, Virginia, Samuel P. Billey of Tucson, Arizona, Avery P. Henry and Austin W,. Henry both of Fairfax, Virginia, Kenneth A. Leuer, Andrew J. Leuer and John Michael Leuer of Midland, Georgia. She also leaves her devoted and loving caregiver, Alice Parker of Ormond Beach. Mrs. Jean will be interred along with her husband in the Jean family plot in the Historic Harrisburg Cemetery of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
