Barbara L. Owens PALENVILLE- Barbara L. Owens died Saturday March 22, 2014 at HealthAlliance Broadway Campus in Kingston. She was 74 years old. Born June 10, 1939 in Malden, she was the daughter of Walter and Helen Hallenbeck Flicker. She married Robert “Rabbit” Owens on May 23, 1958. For many years Barbara worked as a Waitress at Han’s County Line Restaurant in Palenville. She had previously been employed by both Delson’s Department Store and Grant’s in Saugerties. She was a member of the Palenville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and St. John’s Methodist Church in Malden. She enjoyed visiting casinos, penny socials, and bunco parties. Playing family home games and having luncheons with friends were how she liked to spend time. In addition to her husband, survivors include four sisters, Gertrude Strbich of Katsbaan, Patricia Ricks of Saugerties, Shirley Brown of Elizabethtown, Ky., and Dorothy Tienken and her husband Cliff of Malden. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Buono Funeral Service, Inc., Saugerties, N.Y. Interment will take place in Katsbaan Cemetery later in the Spring. Friends may call Wednesday, 2 until 4 p.m. and 7 until 9 p.m. at Buono Funeral Service, Inc. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.
