BROWN, BARBARA E., 83Ocala - Barbara E. Brown, 83, died on April 26, 2012. She was born in Port Maria, Jamaica on January 25, 1929 to Dudley and Enid Wynter. She is survived by her son Xavier Williams, brother Keith of Ocala, Douglas of Gainesville and sister Sonia Wynter of Ocala. Barbara grew up in Jamaica and completed her education there. She worked as a legal secretary for her uncle Allen Wynter. She went to England to pursue a nursing career but returned to Jamaica after one year. She married Ralph Brown and moved to Antigua, West Indies and after the death of Mr. Brown she moved back to Jamaica and returned to being a legal secretary. She moved to the United States in 1967 and lived in New Rochelle, New York, where she went to work for the Reverend Robert Powell at the Council of Churches in New York City. Until her retirement in 1996 she worked as assistant to Bishop Walter Dennis and after her retirement she moved to Ocala, Florida. She was a member of St. Patrick's Episcopal Church and was also a member of the Daughters of the King, an Episcopal Order. A memorial service will take place on May 12, 2012, at 3 p.m. at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church, 3803 NE 7th St. Ocala, Florida. Barbara will be interred in St. Patrick's Memorial Columbarium. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to St. Patrick's Daughters of the King.
