SMITH, Dr. Arnold L. Dr. Arnold Lloyd Smith passed away at the High River Hospital and Nursing Home on March 27, 2011 at the age of 83 years. He will be forever missed by his children, Ann (Ron) McIntosh, High River; Karen (Charlie) Myles, Lethbridge; Lloyd Smith of Canmore; his grandchildren, Rob, Daniel, Heather (Warren), Shannon, Justin, Garrett and Evan; and great-grandchildren Taylor and Skylar. Arnold will also be dearly missed by his brothers Marshall (Betty), Spencer (Marie) and Gerald. He was predeceased by his wife Jean in 1999. Arnold was born in Liberty, Saskatchewan on April 29, 1927. He came to High River in 1957 to begin practicing dentistry and continued doing so for almost forty years. He married Jean Squire on July 11, 1959 and together they celebrated forty happy years. Arnold was a positive contributor to his community, serving two terms on the High River town council. As well he was a dedicated Rotarian for over fifty years, receiving the Paul Harris Fellowship award, one of the highest awards Rotary offers, on two separate occasions. In addition to serving his community Arnold also enjoyed participating in curling, playing bridge and family gatherings. A Memorial Service will be held at the High River United Church, High River, on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. David Robertson officiating. A private family Interment Service will take place at Highwood Cemetery, High River.
