Mrs. Arminda Key Davis was born March 28, 1916, to Henry and Julie Candy Key in Morgan County. She passed into eternal rest on Nov. 10, 2005, at the Hartselle Medical Center at 1:15 p.m. Mrs. Davis accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Ward Chapel CME Church in Somerville where she worshipped and served faithfully. She attended Morgan County Training School in Hartselle. Mrs. Davis worked faithfully as a life member of Ward’s Chapel where she served as church treasurer and was a member of the church’s missionary society for many years. She was a longtime program assistant with the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service, Diet is Our Thing (DOT). She was a charter church member that advocated the building of our current sanctuary. Mrs. Davis was united in marriage to the late Henry Lucas Davis Sr. To this union one son was born. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Tony Miller; four sisters and two brothers, Jeanette Bibb, Omma Clyde Griffin, Magnolia Lewis, Lizzell Cowley, William Elmer Tapscott and Carl Key. She leaves to cherish her memory one sister, Menelia McGennies of Hartselle; one son, Henry Lucas Davis Jr. (Hadassah Young Pope); one granddaughter, Hadassah Pope Moore; two great-grandsons, Aaron Moore Jr. and Henry Moore of Fayetteville, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral will be Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005, at noon at Ward Chapel CME Church with Reynolds directing. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Hartselle Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be tonight at 7 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Ward Chapel Youth Ministry.
