MASON, Arlie Margaret (Busst nee Smith) December, 1925 - January 1, 2010It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Mom on January 1, 2010. Mom passed peacefully at 6:14 a.m. with daughters Lyanne and Arlie-Marie by her side and son Jack and daughter Tami en route from Calgary and Halifax respectively. Mom was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and started her acting career at the age of six months, where her father carried her on stage for a cameo appearance in a vaudeville act. Performing and singing was a huge part of Mom's life, which was obvious with her involvement in the Violet Cameron School of Dance, Vagabond Theatre, Surrey Centennial Arts Center, BC Hydro Christmas productions and most recently Royal City Musical Theatre. Mom pursued life with vigour and enthusiasm, and always encouraged her children to do the same. She will be lovingly remembered for her love of life, her kindness and compassion for others, her unfailing propensity to put others first, her love of animals, but most of all, her sense of humour. She will be forever in the hearts of her children, loving husband Stan (predeceased) sons-in-law Norm, Rod and Paul, daughter-in-law Pat, her grandchildren Bill (Michelle) and Pam (Bryan) of Calgary and Trevor and Tyson (Port Moody), great-granddaughters Paige and Madeline, close family Ron, Yvette, Bibitte, Peter (predeceased) Elvis, Xena and many close friends. Many thanks to the caregivers at the three care facilities Mom stayed at during the last eight months of her life, especially the staff at Rosemary Heights. A Celebration of Life is being planned and will be announced soon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vancouver Children's Hospital.
