Mr. Archie "Slim" Anderson, age 79, passed away Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born July 16, 1934, to Benjamin and Lessie Anderson.Mr. Anderson was a lifelong resident of Walton County. He was Baptist by faith and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving his country for over 20 years during the Vietnam era. He Retired October 1984 as Storekeeper First Class. He also worked for the Walton County ambulance service for 22 years. He retired as Supervisor of the Ambulance Service in Paxton, Fla. When he was in good health he enjoyed most of all spending time with his family and friends. Slim had a great love for country music and was always a favorite at the Panhandle Opry in Mossy Head, Fla. It was a great time in his life when he released his first record "Navy Wings of Gold." A special thanks to Bobby Martin for all of his love and support. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge F&AM #225, Glendale, Fla.Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bob Anderson, Roy Anderson, and Joe Anderson; and one sister, Helen Pitts.Mr. Anderson is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Ilavay Anderson; his children, Artie Anderson, Larry Anderson and wife Kim, Linda Burnham and husband Earl, and Jeffery Anderson and wife Jackie; one sister, Peggy Anderson Campbell; his grandchildren, Archie Burnham, Matthew Anderson, Marc Anderson, Mason Anderson, Michael Anderson, and Corey Anderson; step-grandchild, Kenneth Burnham Jr.; five great-grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Voncille Anderson; special brother-in-law, MacArthur Campbell; and several nieces and nephews.Visitation services will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32435.Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at Pleasant Gove Baptist Church; 5064 County Highway 1883, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32433, with Reverends Kenneth Harrison and Jason Campbell officiating.Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors and Masonic Rites at graveside.Pallbearers will be Matthew, Marc, Michael, Mason, Archie and Corey. Honorary pallbearers will be Gordan Porter, Bobby Martin, Matt Douglas Ronnie Bell, Grady Anderson, MacArthur Campbell, Tom Anderson and Buddy Manning.Floral arrangements are being accepted.
