DERIDDER, La. - Annie Mae Holmes, 83, died at 11:45 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2007 in Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. She was an Assistant Manger/ Manager of Harper's Dress Shop in DeRidder. She was a military Army wife for 34 years. Annie was a Nursing Assistant at the University Hospital O.R. in Augusta, Ga. and also at the Dixie Hospital in the Labor and Delivery Nursery Department in Hampton, Va. She served as a Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher, choir and adult choir Soloist at Burns United Methodist Church in Augusta, Ga. She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, Vestry, and Choir in DeRibber, La. Survivors include her son, U.S. Army Major (Retired) Harold H. Holmes, III and wife Claude Gerard Holmes of Casper, Wyo.; daughters, Helen Victoria Holmes of DeRidder, La., Charlotte Amalie Holmes and husband James Ernest Brasfield of State College, Pa., and Andrea Denise (Holmes) Jed and husband USAF Sgt. (Retired) Victor Anthony Jed of Southport, Fla.; grandchildren, Jennifer Anne (Holmes) Hewitt and husband Michael Hewitt of Plano, Texas, Caitlin Mae Adele Jed of Southport, Fla., Annie Elizabeth Jed of Southport, Fla., Williamson Stanhope (Will) Brasfield of Station College, Pa.; great granddaughter, Heather Jane Hewitt of Plano, Texas; along with a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, CSM (Retired) Harold H. Holmes, Jr.; parents, Jas Leonard Davis and Minnie Bell Tillman Davis; brothers, Henry L. Davis, Lonnie Wilton Davis, and James Arnold Davis; grandson, Scott Gerard Holmes. Her funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, February 11, 2007 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in DeRidder. Father Danny Torres will officiate. Burial will be in the Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, La., under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home in DeRidder. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2007 at Hixson Funeral Homein DeRidder.
