MORRISON _ Annie Dorothy, passed away suddenly following a brief illness on July 6, 2006, at Vancouver, B.C. She was born April 8, 1909 on a homestead near Leney, Saskatchewan. At the age of 17, she started teaching school. She married Stanley Morrison in 1940. Dorothy and her husband then taught in Indian Residential Schools in Balcarres, Sask and in Mamilillikula, on Village Island, B.C. They taught for several years at Progress, B.C. before moving to Vancouver where Dorothy attended UBC and graduated with a B.Ed. in 1965. She taught at elementary schools in Vancouver until retirement. She then continued to volunteer her services at Bayview School reading to children. Over several years she supported many charities and was involved with the Peace Movement which often involved traveling to other countries in Europe and Asia. A gifted woman of many talents, Dorothy wrote poetry and was a member of the Saskatchewan Poetry Society. In addition to being an artist, she made puppets, stuffed animals for children and did many forms of needlework. She especially loved children and devised many ways to entertain them. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Stanley in 1990, her sister Isobel Eamon in 1999, her nephew Hugh Eamon in 1981 and her parents Sarah and Archie Smith. She is survived by her nieces Ruth Martin and Betty Peebles, nephews David Eamon, Douglas Eamon, and Herbert Eamon. No service will be held at Dorothy's request.
