ST. LOUIS, Anne (nee Devcich)May 17, 1949 – Przunac, CroatiaDecember 24, 2014 – Calgary, AlbertaAnne St. Louis passed away on Christmas Eve at home in the company of her beloved husband Ken at the age of 65 years, after a ten year battle with Multiple System Atrophy. As a child, Anne escaped communist Croatia (Yugoslavia) with her family at the age of 7 and spent a year in a refugee camp in Italy before immigrating to Canada in 1957. The family was accepted as refugees entering through Pier 21 in Halifax. Anne spent her first few years in Picture Butte, Alberta, after which the family moved to Calgary. She graduated from St. Francis High School, where she received the Marian Award given to the student who best personified the caring and acceptance of others. This award embodied her philosophy of life from which she never wavered. Anne subsequently graduated from Mount Royal College with a diploma in social work. She went on to develop a career in Accounting and worked for both the federal government and private business. Anne was a ceaseless volunteer, canvassing for several charities a year including Cancer, Heart & Stroke Foundation and Flowers of Hope. She also spent several years volunteering and working at St. Michael's School. Anne was always the first one to arrive and the last to leave at any function that required volunteer work. She taught her two sons how to respect and be considerate of others. She gave to her grandchildren unreservedly and they were the joy of her life. Anne will be greatly missed by her husband, Ken; her sons and daughters-in-law, Marc and Charlotte, and Paul and Michelle; and her grandchildren, Isabel, Nathan, Avery and Claire. She is also survived by her mother Kathy Devcich; her three sisters, Mary Ann Ryall, Nevenka Webster, and Sandy Pringle; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Anne's honour would be greatly appreciated to be made directly to MSA Research at www.multiplesystematrophy.org. In living memory of Anne St. Louis, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
