BREWER - Anne L. Malo, 67, passed away peacefully Oct. 30, 2011, at a local hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born Jan. 31, 1944, in Brewer, the daughter of Linwood E. and Thelma G. (MacDonald) Ellis. Anne worked in the Brewer school department as a manager in food service, retiring after many years. She was a member of East Orrington Congregation Church, Orrington, and enjoyed being outdoors, especially gardening. Anne was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family, especially her six grandchildren. Her grandchildren were her source of courage and strength and her love of them was endless and will endure forever. Surviving are her loving husband, Jean Malo of Brewer; two children, Scott Flagg and his wife, Sara, of Brewer and Susan Charette and her husband, Ronald "Butch" of Brewer; six grandchildren, Brock, Allie, Abbie and Brady Flagg, Cooper and Carter Charette; one brother, Paul Ellis of Bangor; a sister-in-law, Rhonda Ellis; and a nephew, Gregory Ellis, both of Hermon; a stepson, Jason Malo and his wife, Trudi, and their children, Jamison and Parker Malo, of Leesburg, Va.; a brother-in-law, Father Richard Malo of Greenville; many special friends, including Melissa Lane, Marlene, Marty, Stacy and Jason Glidden, Jane Perri, Vivian and David Gregory, Sally and Malcolm Denning, Norman and Doris O'Halloran, Marilyn Gould, Jane Irish and many others. Anne's family gratefully thanks the staff of CancerCare of Maine, especially Dr. Merrill Garrett, Dr. Kimberly Lieber of Penobscot Surgical Care and Dr. Adam Lauer of Twin City Family Medicine for their excellent care, compassion and kindness. Family and friends may visit 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A service honoring and celebrating Anne's life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at East Orrington Congregational Church, Johnson Mill Road, Orrington, with the Rev. Carl Schreiber, pastor, presiding. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to CancerCare of Maine, care of Healthcare Charities, P.O. Box 931, Bangor, ME 04402-0931.
