Anne was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, George Harwood Martin. She is survived by her children, Jane (Antreas) Ghazarossian, William (Judy) Martin, MaryAnne (Douglas) Jones, and James Martin; grandchildren, Brooks (Donald) Eleck, Emily (Brian Bielen) Orrick, Oliver Martin, Jessa (Forgan) McIntosh, Trevor (Alison) Jones, Cameron Jones, and James, Sarah, and George Martin; ten great-grandchildren; and two first cousins, Barbara J. Insley and William R. O'Hara.Anne ("Brooksie") was born Oct. 31, 1924 in Drama, Greece to William and Hilda Jennings of Dare, VA. She loved to tell stories of her remarkable childhood in northeastern Greece, where her father was assigned by an American company. After many years abroad, the family moved to Honeoye Falls, NY, where Anne became a lifelong resident. She graduated from Columbia School for Girls (Rochester, NY), and attended Hollins College and the University of Rochester. She married George H. Martin in 1945 and they lived in Ithaca, NY while George continued his education at Cornell University after the war. Later they made their life together in Honeoye Falls, where they reared their four children on Hillbrook Farm. Anne was a dedicated volunteer at Meals on Wheels for over 25 years. She also served as a Red Cross nurse's aide at Highland Hospital, and was a member of the Sandalwood Twig. Anne was a longtime member of the Junior League, the Chatterbox Club, and the Country Club of Rochester. She was a talented artist and studied painting at the Memorial Art Gallery. An enthusiastic gardener, she also delighted in arranging flowers. Anne's greatest joy was spending time with her devoted family and treasured friends, including notable adventures at the family cottage in Newboro, Ontario, Canada.A Celebration of her Life will be held on Monday, February 9th, at 4 p.m. at Cloverwood in Pittsford. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions in her memory to Visiting Nurse Foundation, Inc., 2180 Empire Blvd., Webster, NY 14580 and designate your gift to "Meals on Wheels".
