WATERFORD Anna O. Smith, of Lape Rd., died Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at her daughter's residence. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Sophia Wasna Filuta. She was a graduate of Troy High School. Anna had been employed as an accountant at the former Country Dollar Market and later at the Country Liquor in Clifton Park, retiring 30 years ago. She had also been a waitress at Tironi's Restaurant in Waterford and a waitress and accountant at the Fifth Ave. Diner in Lansingburgh. During World War II, she was a crane operator at the Watervliet Arsenal. For a number of years, Anna was a volunteer at the Rubin Dialysis Center in Troy. She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Waterford and a member of the altar society at the church. She was especially proud of her family and loved to cook for them. A humanitarian, she was a compassionate person who enjoyed helping those in need. She was widow of Ransom Smith, who died in 1996. She is survived by her daughter, Debra A. Currier and her husband Richard of Waterford. She is sister of Michael Filuta and his wife Clara of Fla., Francis Filuta of Troy, the late Sonia Masulli, Eva Coyne, John and Helen Filuta. Also surviving are her grandsons, Daniel Currier and his wife Rebecca and Richard Currier III and his wife Melissa of Halfmoon; a great-granddaughter, Evelyn Currier; as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Saturday at 8:30 a.m. from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rt. 32), Waterford and at 9 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Friday 4-8 p.m.
