Graveside service for Anna Mae Campbell Black, 88, of Decatur will be Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Athens City Cemetery with the Rev. Lance Pate officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Black, who died Monday, Oct. 9, 2006, at Summerford Nursing Home, was born Feb. 13, 1918, in Stevenson to Charles Hiram Campbell and Mary Lowrimore Campbell. She was a member of First Baptist Church for over 54 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tulloss Willard Black; and her oldest son, Charles Thaddeus “Tad” Black. She is survived by one son, John David Black and his wife, Peggy; two daughters, Emily Ann Richardson and her husband, Joe, and Jean Hancock and her husband, Mike; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.Mrs. Black was a stay-at home mother until her youngest child started to school where she began her career in the cafeteria at West Decatur School. She was manager of the cafeteria until 1969. Over her 54 year membership at First Baptist Church, she was an avid Bible student and taught Sunday school for 35 years including GA’s and the Lynn Keith Sunday school class. An ardent needleworker and painter, she created many heirlooms for family and friends.Pallbearers will be grandsons, Charles Thaddeus “Tad” Black II, Joe Tulloss Richardson, William Matthew Hancock, Zachary Michael Hancock, Trent Parsons and her deacon, Larry Rutledge. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Meals on Wheels or to your favorite charity.
