Waterloo/Himrod - Anna E. Davis, age 82, of Waterloo, N.Y. formerly of Himrod; died unexpectedly on Sunday (January 20, 2013) at Geneva General Hospital, in Geneva, N.Y. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday (Jan. 25) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Marilyn Wood officiating. On Oct. 23, 1948 in Newport, N.Y. she married the late Ira A. Davis, who passed away on Aug. 29, 1983. Moving from Cold Brook, N.Y. to Himrod in 1958; Anna ran a commercial green house, for over 20 years, growing all varieties of house plants, with her favorite, being African Violets. She was employed by Seneca Foods in Geneva, and then Northland Cranberry, in Dundee, retiring in 2000. She moved to Waterloo in 2004, and since 2008 to the present, she was working in the Experienced Works Program in Geneva. Mrs. Davis formerly attended the Dundee United Methodist Church, was a member of the Yates County Farm and Craft Market; and enjoyed knitting, crochet, and fishing.She is survived by a daughter, Shirley A. Westcott of Geneva; a son, William H. Davis of Middlesex; three brothers, Karl (Jackie) Root of Waterloo, Douglas Root of Horseheads, Philip (Carol) Root of Cold Brook, N.Y.; a sister, Rosemary Seville of Haddon, N.J.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
