Ann Dorsett Brown, beloved wife of James G. Brown, Westminster, died early Monday morning, June 12, 2006, of apparent heart failure. Mrs. Brown was born in Rocky Mount, N.C., and had lived in Oconee County since her marriage. She graduated from Anderson College, was formerly employed by Jantzen Inc. and retired from the school system as a library aide. She and Mr. Brown were married in 1944 and enjoyed 61 years of happy married life. Ann was a longtime member of her beloved Westminster Baptist Church, where she served in numerous capacities. She and her husband recently moved to the Benton Village Retirement Center in the Seneca area. Survivors include her husband, James; a son, Bob, and wife, Jackie, of Seneca; daughter-in-law, Kathy Brown of Westminster; sisters, Frances Griffin and husband, Milton, of Rocky Mount, N.C., and Elsie Jane Dozier of Virginia Beach, Va.; and a brother, Raymond Dorsett of Rocky Mount, N.C.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Franklin R. and Elsie Thomas Dorsett, her son, Larry Brown, preceded her in death in 1990.A private family committal will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 15, 2006, followed by a public memorial service at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Westminster Baptist Church, with Dr. Randy Keasler and Reverend Don Bickers officiating.The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 14, 2006, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Sandifer Funeral Home in Westminster. The family is at the home of Bob and Jackie Brown, 3019 Lake Keowee Lane, Seneca.
