BARNARD - Andrew W. Davis, 90, of Barnard, died Monday evening, Jan. 4, 2010, at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph.He was born July 25, 1919, in Randolph, the son of Daniel and Jesse (LaFrancis) Davis. He worked as a logger for Lee Ward, then served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was married to Doris Southwick on March 24, 1940, in Bethel, and moved to Barnard from Randolph in 1940. He had worked for Cone Automatic, then Phyles and Rice Plywood in Bethel, then on the Clyde Campbell farm. He also managed Eaton TV Sales and Service in South Royalton before establishing Davis Radio and TV, which he and his wife operated for 30 years until retiring in 2001. Andrew enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.Survivors include his sons, George "Andy" Davis and his wife Maryann of Royalton and Arthur "Gerry" Davis and his wife Pauline of East Windsor, Conn.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, who passed away in 2007.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph, with Rev. George Sweet officiating. Calling hours are from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Private burial will be in the spring at the Methodist Cemetery in Barnard.
