Joe Cater officiating and Jackson Memory Funeral Home directing. Ms. Jackson was born February 24, 1924, to the late Rev. Henry and Rosa Nelson Cater. She departed this life on Sunday, November 15, 2009. She confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined Jackson Chapel CME Church in Courtland after moving to Decatur, she connected and joined Garner Memorial CME Church where she served in various organizations and stewardess board until her health began to fail. She was united in marriage to Carl Jackson who preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Alabama State University in Montgomery. She taught school for the Lawrence County Board of Education for well over 30 years, she was a member of the National Education Association, Alabama Education Association and Alabama Retired Teachers Association. She was also a member of the Alabama State Alumni Association. She leaves to cherish her memories a very devoted daughter, Rosalind Jackson of Decatur; her granddaughter who was the apple of the eye, Tiffanie A. Jackson of Sandy Springs, Ga. Her caregiver, Bernice Ayers of Decatur; sisters-in-law, Mary Cater of Cleveland, Ohio, Margaret Pope (Marshall) of Hartselle, Margie Matthews (Artis) of Mulga, Merlean Foster (Lesley) of Chattanooga, Tenn., Marie Simpson of Brentwood, Calif., Ann Britt (Benny) of San Suin, Calif., and Katie Jackson of Akron Ohio.
