JOHNSON, Alton O., 84, of Plant City, died August 27, 2003. He was born May 30, 1919 in Leedy, Miss., served five years in the Army, worked in the oil field, owned/ operated a restaurant and worked for Ferman Chevrolet and Roger Whitley Chevrolet in Tampa and Foote Auto Co. in Florence, Ala. He retired 1981 to Berlin, Ga. and became a Mason in Lodge #465. He was a member of Woodmen Lodge 104 in Moultrie, Ga. and Fraternal Coordinator - So. Ga., Woodmen of the World. He operated Camp Glenn-Blythe Island at Brunswick, Ga. and was an Honorary State Trooper in the Georgia State Patrol. He came to Plant City in July, 2002 to devote all of his time to his loving family. Preceded in death by parents, Luther and Verdie; and brothers, Luther C. and Herman and is survived by his loving wife, Pauline Wooten Curles Johnson; daughter, Patricia Rogers and husband, Jim; grandchildren, Michael Rogers, Rhonda Trimble and husband, Mark, and Rebecca Guidice and husband, Carl; seven great-grandchildren; brother , J. Wilbern Johnson; sisters, Beatrice Williams, Mildred Orrell and Helen Story and husband, Cal Marsee; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. He will be buried at Florida National Cemetery and will be missed by family and friends. Memorial gifts can be made in his name to Hospice or a favorite charity.
