SPARTANBURG, SC-- Alton Johnson, 70, of 112 Flatwood Lane, died Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at his home. Born August 12, 1935, in Chesnee, SC, he was the son of the late Willie and Alice Hall Johnson. He was retired from Spartanburg Steel after 25 years of service and was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church on Parris Bridge Road.Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Nell J. Johnson; four sons, Dexter Johnson of Clinton, Terry Johnson of Spartanburg, Douglas Johnson of Chesnee, and Rex Johnson of Gaffney; six sisters, Louvenia Scruggs and Carrie Cooper, both of Chesnee, Hazel Bullman of Boiling Springs, Willine Hames and Marie Blanchard, both of Forest City, NC, and Catherine Jones of Rutherfordton, NC; three brothers, Joe Johnson and Junior Johnson, both of Chesnee, and Roger Johnson of Spartanburg; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2006, at Floyds Boiling Springs Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2006, at Floyds Boiling Springs Chapel conducted by the Rev. Phillip Welchel.
