BAKER Alice Yorke Baker died at the age of 94 on Saturday, December 22, 2001 in Palm Beach, Florida. Born in Concord, North Carolina to Pearl Thompson Yorke and Aaron Jones Yorke, she lived in Jacksonville, Fla. during the 1920s with her husband, John D. Baker, who died in 1992. Mrs. Baker spent most of her life in New York City. While remaining a true Southerner, she had a vital engagement with New York life, particularly through her work at the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her three daughters, Barbara Baker Mallory of Wilson, Wyo., Alice Baker Cullen of Villanova, Penn. and Joan Brooks Baker of Santa Fe, N.M., her step-sister, Lucy Callery of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother Aaron Jones Yorke III. Memorial services will be held in the spring in Concord and in Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial contributions to the Womens Association of the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, 7 West 55th Street, NY, NY 10019.
