HIGGINS Alice O. Higgins, age 64, of Milford, died on Saturday, February 7, 2004, at Yale-New Haven Hospital, New Haven after a brief illness. She was a longtime resident of Milford. She was born in Bruff County Limerick, Ireland, on March 25, 1939 to the late Michael and Helen O-Donnell. Alice had worked for the Visiting Nurse Association of Bridgeport for 11 years as an RN. She was previously an administrative assistant for the State of Connecticut for 18 years. Mrs. Higgins was a member of St. Ann-s Church in Devon. A member of the Gaelic American Club of Fairfield. She received her nursing degree from St. Vincent-s Hospital School of Nursing and her Bachelor-s Degree from Gateway College. Survivors include her son, John M. Higgins and his wife, Christine of Stratford; her daughter, Erin A. Vargas and her husband, Armando of Simsbury; five grandchildren, Patrick Long, Sean and Alejandro Vargas, Conner and Tyler Higgins; three brothers, Michael, Edward and John O-Donnell; four sisters, Marie Finn, Eileen Hudak, Theresa Schmidt and Josephine Condon; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers Jeremiah and Kevin O-Donnell. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 at 9:45 a.m. from the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., in St. Ann-s Church, Devon. Interment will be private. Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Avenue, Meriden, CT.
