Alice-Mary Townsend, est décédée le 20 février 2006. Veuillez consulter son avis de décès ici:
Alice Mary Townsend died February 20, 2006, just a month and a half short of her 100th birthday. She was an artist in every sense of the word. She painted in watercolor, wrote poetry, created cloth sculptures, china painted, and was a gourmet cook and wonderful hostess. She was, as her own father used to say, a true child of joy. She was born in 1906 in Winnipeg, Canada, and lived in Toronto until the age of 12, when her family moved to Detroit. Alice married George Townsend, of Sault St. Marie, Mich., in 1929. They raised their three children in Detroit, and then moved to Florida in 1968. George passed on in 1991 and Alice moved to Ormond Beach in 1998. She is survived by her loving children, Peter (Irene) Townsend, Rochester Hills, Mich., Jane (Larry) Funk, Ormond Beach, and Susan (Jim) Demchak, Castle Rock, Colo., as well as her nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren (and one on the way), who loved her dearly. At Alice's request, no funeral service is planned. Instead, a celebration of her life will be held on April 1 in the social room of the Regency Plaza in Ormond Beach. In lieu of flowers, her family hopes friends will donate a new children's book in celebration of her lifelong love of reading. Bookplates honoring Alice will be available. Arrangements are under the direction of Cardwell & Maloney Funeral Home, 3571 Ridgewood Ave., Port Orange. Telephone 767-0120.
