KITTERY ; Alice Mary Libby, 94, of Stimson Street in Kittery, died on Oct. 16, 2008, at her home, following a long period of declining health.Born in New York City on Dec. 12, 1913, she was a daughter of James Lawrence and Mary Theresa (Murphy) O'Toole. She attended New York Schools, furthering her education at Fordham University. Following her education she worked for a time at Met Life Insurance Company in New York. She met and later on June 27, 1942, married her loving husband of 44 years Frank W. Libby. They were married at St. Vincent Ferrer Church in New York City. Together they settled in Kittery in 1958, where they raised their children.Alice was a communicant of St. Raphael Catholic Church on Whipple Road in Kittery for many years. Her first love was unquestionably her family. Time spent with her children and grandchildren while they were growing and most recently with her great-grandchildren was time she cherished. She was a veracious reader, especially a good mystery. Alice was talented at handiwork, crafting many knitting project over the years. She also enjoyed collecting and decorating with antiques.She is survived by her family: sons, James F. Libby and his partner Judith A. Thurston of Arundel, Maine, Kevin J. and his wife Mary C. Libby of Troy, N.Y., and Joseph D. Libby of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, James, Mary and Kathryn Libby, Margaret Kennedy, Kimberly Ann Russell, and Brian, Sean and Theresa Libby; and great-grandchildren, Ethan, Ely, Noah, Riley, Carissa, Cailey, Emily, Alex and Colin.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, at 11 a .m. at St. Raphael Parish Church on Whipple Road in Kittery, with a time of sharing and refreshment to follow in the church fellowship hall.
