McCREADY, Alice Lillian (Fleming) 1911 - 2007 Lillian McCready passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at the age of 95 years. She was predeceased by her husband Ralph in September of 2002. She is survived by her four children Ken (Brenda), Mary Hislop and Ralph all of Calgary and Stuart (Shirley) of Oxford, England; her seven grandchildren John (Zoe) of Sudbury, Massachusetts, Janet (Brad Keys) and Brian of Calgary, Shelagh Hislop (Jay Fitzsimmons) of Nanoose Bay, B.C., Stewart (Leah) Hislop of Calgary, Caroline and William of Oxford, England; and by nine great-grandchildren Jack, Jamie and Claire of Sudbury, Massachusetts, Alexander and William Keys and Victoria and Olivia Hislop of Calgary and Jenna and Sophie Fitzsimmons of Nanoose Bay, B.C. Lillian is also survived by her brother Bob (Leni) Fleming of Calgary and numerous extended family. Lillian was born in Mannville, Alberta on August 5, 1911. She moved with her family to a farm near Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan in 1918 and returned to Alberta in 1925 where she finished her schooling in Edmonton. After qualifying as a teacher she took a job at the Pickardville Village School where she met her future husband Ralph and they married in 1938. They lived in Big Valley and then Ponoka before moving to Calgary in 1942 where Lillian raised her family and taught school. She was active in the Mount Royal College Auxiliary and the Women's Group at Central United Church. She also enjoyed an education group and book club night into her nineties.
