DAVIS, Alice F., 95, of Odessa, Fla., passed away April 19, 2008. She was born to Adolph and Bess Freedlund April 24, 1912, in Miami, Fla. Her husband, M. Austin Davis, one of the founding brothers of Winn Dixie, Inc., preceded her in death. Survivors include her daughters, Carole Crocker, Kay O' Rourke, and Sandra Stephens and her husband, Pick; grandchildren, Douglas Crocker, Donald Crocker, Connie Morgan, Cherie Wallace, Beverly Crocker, John Crocker, Patti Crocker, Austin Stephens and Scott Stephens; and multiple great-grandchildren. Alice worked quietly behind the scenes to support her community through the establishment of the M. Austin Davis Library in Odessa and the Jimmie B. Keel Regional Library in Carrollwood and helped to support the beginning of the Blood Mobile Bus. Family members will receive friends 5-7 p.m. at the Blount & Curry Funeral Home, Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 W. Bearss Ave., Tampa. Graveside services will take place at Woodlawn Park Cemetery in Miami. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to LifePath Hospice, Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, and The Children' s Home in Tampa.
