Alice E. (McLaughlin) Quinn of Avon, formerly of Holbrook, passed away at the age of 89, Feb. 11, 2013, after a period of failing health from complications of Multiple Myeloma. Wife of the late Gerald F. Quinn, she was the loving mother of Gerald M. Quinn of Holbrook, Terrance F. Quinn of Halifax, John S. Quinn of Sandwich, Elona C. Madar of Norwood, Carol A. Donovan of Holbrook, Joseph L. Quinn of Avon and Dennis C. Quinn of S. Attleboro; sister of the late Virginia Lively and Mary Bumpus. Also survived by 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was grandmother to the late Matthew S. Quinn. Alice was born in Holbrook, grew up there and was a graduate of Sumner High School, Holbrook. For the past 15 years, she had lived in Avon with her son Joseph and daughter-in-law Amy. She had lived in Florida for almost 15 years prior to Avon. She bowled with the Sun Up bowling league at Wright Brothers, Holbrook. Alice also loved golfing with her husband and family, reading and crossword puzzles. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the occasional trip to Foxwoods. Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 69 South Franklin St. (Rte. 37), Holbrook, until 8:15 a.m. Saturday, followed by a funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Holbrook. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday from 4-8 p.m. Burial in Union Cemetery, Holbrook.
