Alice C. Candi Burke Herkimer Alice C. Burke, 63, of Herkimer, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2009, at Valley Health Services. Candi was born on February 15, 1946, in Utica, the daughter of Andrew and Alice Ruth (Randall) Schell. On June 17, 1983, she married William V. Burke in Colonial Williamsburg, VA. Candi was employed with the Presbyterian Home prior to her retirement. Candi was a loving, generous and helpful person whose contagious smile always made everyone feel welcome. She had a special place in her heart for the needy and always provided a hug when necessary. Candi spoke her peace with words from her heart. Surviving are her beloved husband, Bill; two sons, Joseph V. Burke and his wife, Stacie, Lynchburg, VA, and Anthony M. Monero, Jr., Corning, NY; one daughter, Gina Marie Russo, Brooklyn; two sisters, Jean Schell and Liz Schell, both of Florida; two brothers, Thomas Schell, Utica, and Jeff Zammiello, New Hartford; mother-in-law, Gertrude Burke, Middleville; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cecelia and Gary Billera, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. Candi also leaves her best friend, Edee Cottrill, Whitesboro, and her many friends at Immanuel Baptist Church, Bethel Baptist Church, the Rug Club and American Legion Post 229. She will be missed by her cherished canine companions, Jeter and Angel. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Tuesday (today) from 5-7 p.m. at Nunn & McGrath Funeral Directors, 470 French Rd., Utica.
