-->Alice Blue Jackson SPARTANBURG, SC-- Alice Blue Gibson Jackson, 88, of 190 Trenton Circle, died Monday, February 18, 2008 at her home. Born September 5, 1919 in Fairfield County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Stephen Henry and Lottie Spinks Gibson and the wife of the late Henry G. Jackson, Jr. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she served on the Altar Guild, was a member of the United Methodist Women Circle #9 and a former member of the Bethelship Sunday School Class. She was a volunteer with Mary Black Memorial Hospital for nine years. Survivors include two daughters, Teresa Thornton of Moore, SC and Barbara Ryan and her husband, Lacon of Spartanburg, SC; a daughter-in-law, Anne Jackson of Columbia, SC; a sister, Gladys Navy of Marietta, GA; and a brother, Jack Gibson of Bluffton, SC. "Mama Blue" was a loving grandmother of seven and great-grandmother of twelve. She was predeceased by a son, William G. Jackson; and three brothers, Stephen H. Gibson, Reuben H. Gibson, and Llewellyn A. Gibson. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Thursday, February 21, 2008 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. David B. Smith and the Rev. Dr. Charles A. Graves. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Her many loving care givers will serve as honorary escort. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 245 South Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306; or to Interim Hospice, 775 Spartan Boulevard, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
