Albina Marie Davis died on Friday, Feb. 1, 2008 at the Mercy Center in Dallas, Pa., where she resided for the past year. She was born in Freeland, Pa., and lived in New York for 30 years before moving to St. Augustine with her husband in 1977. A graduate of Bloomsburg University, Bloomsburg, Pa., Albina also attended University of Pennsylvania School of Social Work. She was a medical social worker for the National America Red Cross Disaster Service and American Red Cross Military Service. While in New York, she was associated with the New York City Department of Hospitals and a board member of the Central Queens Red Cross Chapter and was on the Board of the Nursing Sisters of the Poor. In St. Augustine as a member of the Cathedral-Basilica Parish, Albina organized the "Our Lady of Fatima Circle" in 1980, and in 1985 opened the Cathedral Bell Tower Gift Shop. She also edited and published two books "The Cathedral-Basilica and its History" and "Historic Catholic Sites of St. Augustine", a walking tour. Albina was preceded in death by her husband Harry and is survived by a brother, Hyne Zadra of Daytona Beach, Fla.; nieces, Sister Angela Fellin RSM of Springfield, Pa., and Sister Mary Fellin RSM of Dallas, Pa., and many other nieces, many nephews and many great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday Feb. 8, 2008 at the Cathedral-Basilica with Rev. Christopher Liguori, parochial vicar, officiating. Interment will follow in San Lorenzo Cemetery. A vigil service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday Feb. 7, 2008 at the Cathedral-Basilica.
