Albert L. McDonald, age 75, Holly Drive, Gainesville, Ga., passed away Saturday, August 5, 2006, at his residence following an extended illness. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Monday, August 7, 2006, at Memorial Park Chapel. Rev. Charles Pirkle and Rev. Bradley Elliott officiated. Interment followed in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family received friends Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m., and received friends again at the funeral home from 1 p.m. Monday until the funeral hour.Mr. McDonald was born in Central, SC. He is preceded in death by his mother, Fannie Mae Cantrell McDonald; and a son, Danny Lee McDonald. He was an amazing man, deeply loved and respected by all his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, and a veteran of the Korean War, where he served with the United States Army. Survivors include his wife, Shirley McDonald of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-Law, Carol McDonald Hood and Bret Golightly of Clemson, SC; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Susan McDonald of Harrison, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Denver Bond of Gillsville; daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Ricky Lomax of Gainesville; grandchildren, Junie Taylor, Carissa Marie Hood-Pope, Steven Lee McDonald, Amber Michelle McDonald, Jonathan McDonald, Misty Perry, Kimberly Bond and Lori Bond; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Larry McDonald.Memorial Park Funeral Home of Gainesville, Georgia.
